Astroturf Products
ASTROTURF® 12
A favorite among field hockey players for its playability. AstroTurf® 12 is engineered with a premium knitted nylon system designed to provide uniform traction and consistent footing. It improves playability when it is wet, and absorbs water to maintain wet conditions longer.
- Pad - Multiple pad options offered. May be installed over an elastic layer, or with several closed cell pad options to suit varying needs.
- Knitted Construction - For unsurpassed durability.
- Nylon Fibers - Premium nylon monofilament fibers, more durable than polyethylene. And now less abrasive.
GameDay Grass™ 3D
Produces a natural-looking synthetic surface that’s more durable than 100% polyethylene systems. State-of-the-art tufting more accurately mimics the look and feel of natural grass. A double nylon RootZone® acts as a traction layer, providing fiber support and reducing the compaction associated with other infill products.
- Tufted Construction - Provides extra durability.
- Multi-ply Backing - Covered with a heavy urethane coating for uniformity, consistency and precise performance across the entire field. This secondary backing is developed with environmentally-friendly BioCel technology which uses renewable resources to extend product life and reduce landfill waste, while improving outdoor air quality.
- Infill - Custom infill options available. Composed primarily of highly durable recycled rubber from post-consumer tires. Also available as a blend of sand, rubber or other materials to achieve specific performance characteristics.
- Double Nylon RootZone® - Acts as a traction layer, providing improved fiber support and reducing the compaction associated with other infill products. Increases stability, prevents infill migration, and “flyout.” Also enhances field drainage while reducing compaction. Dual coloration and tweed tufting provide more natural appearance.
- Monofilament Polyethylene - Highly durable, individual monofilament blades eliminate post fibrillation, producing a more natural appearance.
GameDay Grass™ XPe
A natural-looking turf that is setting new standards for durability and performance in a polyethylene-based synthetic infill system. The enhanced durability and natural grass appearance is achieved through an innovative manufacturing process that elongates and orients the XPe fiber.
- Slit Film Polyethylene - Pushes the boundaries for density, thickness and ultraviolet stabilization. So the turf performs more like real grass.
GameDay Grass™ MT
A polyethylene fiber turf that gets its natural appearance from individual monofilament blades, which eliminate post-fibrillation of the fiber system. AstroTurf® GameDay Grass™ MT is tuft-constructed using 6-end or 8-end monofilament bundles.
- Tufted Construction - Provides extra durability.

Typical Base and Drainage Systems
Wet weather is inevitable. To help maintain excellent playing conditions on your field, your AstroTurf® system can feature a technologically advanced multi-layer base and drainage system.
- Curb - A cast in place concrete curb that frames and contains the dynamic base, nailer and AstroTurf systems. Our curbing design includes added strength provided by a reinforcement bar encapsulated with the concrete.
- Edge nailer
- Turf - Whether you choose AstroTurf® GameDay Grass™ or AstroTurf® PureGrass®, our dynamic base drainage system is engineered to keep your field playable in every season.
- Permeable Dynamic Base
- Perforated Collection Pipe - Connects to existing storm pipes to capture and accelerate controlled field drainage.
- Geotextile Fabric or Liner - This layer is composed of a permeable fabric membrane or a non-permeable liner, each separating the dynamic base components from the compacted, undisturbed sug-grade.
- Fine Aggregated Layer - To achieve desired planarity, this layer serves as the final leveling course for the turf. Features a dynamic blend of fractured stone and crusher fines to permit compaction and permeability.
- Composite Drain Tile - Installed on top of the geotextile fabric or line, this drain tile is engineered to capture and transport water that passes through the turf system and aggregate. To provide drainage across the entire field, the herringbone pattern radiates from mid-field to the Perforated Collection Pile along each sideline of the field.
- Compacted Undistributed Subgrade - This layer is composed of a permeable fabric membrane or a non-permeable liner, each separating the dynamic base components from the compacted, undisturbed sub-grade.
